TEHRAN – Iran’s Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi honored South Korean actress Lee Young-ae for her donation to the Kermanshah quake relief during his visit to Seoul on Friday.

The minister handed an item of Persian handicraft to the actress at the Embassy of Iran in Seoul, the embassy announced.

The actress donated 50,000,000 Korean won (about $45,000) to the earthquake relief efforts in Iran in November.

The donation was made via check handed over to Iranian Ambassador Hassan Taherian in Seoul by Korea Foundation for Persons with Disabilities Chairman Lee Seong-gyu.

Lee Young-ae is known for her appearances in the Korean historical drama “Dae Jang Geum” (2003), which was also aired on Iranian television.

Qazizadeh Hashemi is in Seoul by invitation of Korean Minister of Health and Welfare Park Neunghoo.

The massive earthquake in the Kermanshah region in western Iran killed hundreds and injured thousands last month.
